Converting JPG images to PDF is one of the most common document tasks â whether you're scanning receipts, submitting photo forms, or archiving photos. This guide covers every method across all platforms, explains image quality considerations, and helps you get the best output for your specific use case.
JPEG images are ideal for photos but come with real limitations as standalone files:
Folium's JPG to PDF converter accepts any number of JPEG or JPG files and combines them into a single multi-page PDF with your choice of page size. Everything runs in your browser â your photos never leave your device.
Images are placed in the PDF in the order you selected them. On Windows, hold Ctrl and click files in sequence to select them in order. On Mac, hold Command. To reorder after conversion, use Reorder Pages.
A4 is the right choice for most professional and international documents. A4 dimensions (210Ă297mm / 8.27Ă11.69in) are the universal standard outside North America and are used by most government forms, academic institutions, and international businesses.
US Letter (8.5Ă11in) is the standard in the United States, Canada, and some Latin American countries. If your PDF will be printed on standard US office paper, use Letter.
Fit to Image creates PDF pages sized exactly to each image's pixel dimensions. This is best when you want to preserve exact dimensions â for example, a photo book where each page should be the same proportions as the photograph. The resulting PDF may have inconsistent page sizes if your photos have different aspect ratios.
When Folium converts a JPG to PDF, the image is embedded directly into the PDF without re-encoding. This means there is no additional quality loss beyond what was already in your JPEG file. The image quality of the output PDF is identical to the original JPEG.
Images are scaled to fill the chosen page size while maintaining aspect ratio â any remaining space is white. The scaling is purely positional; pixels are not re-sampled or re-compressed.
iPhone/iPad: The Files app can convert images to PDF: select a photo in the Files app, tap Share, and choose Print. On the print preview screen, pinch outward on the preview to open it as a PDF in Files or share it directly. Alternatively, Folium works directly in Safari on iOS â the workflow is identical to desktop.
Android: Open Chrome, visit foliumio.netlify.app/jpg-to-pdf.html, and use the tool normally. Chrome on Android fully supports file selection and download. The Google Drive app also has a built-in "scan and save as PDF" function if you have a Google account.
If you have dozens of scanned pages, receipts, or photos to combine, the batch workflow is:
